1. The left Foot of Shiva is raised from the ground. It signifies that a person should always let bygones be bygones and move ahead. To be stagnant in one place is as good as being dead. Movement is crucial attribute of life. By lifting one leg Shiva has already made a movement towards his devotees. The main characteristic of life is to move ahead. There are times when people get stuck with a certain place or thing. If you are emotionally attached to someone it is taken away from you, tau are shattered. Life seems to have stopped. In situations like this one must remember that things and people come and go from your love for a reason. We need to accept it and move ahead. A human is born with a mission or calling. Every human needs to find their calling and act upon it. We meet a lot of things and a lot of people to make our journey easier. Once job is done, they leave us. Shiva’s left foot emphasizes on moving ahead.
2. Shiva is making the first move towards his devotees in expectation of them making a move towards him. It is always a two way process. A god is incomplete without his devotees and devotees are incomplete without their god. Shiva needs his devotees as much as the need him. It is like mother and child relationship. A child needs his mother as much as the mother needs her child. Non can survive without one another. Such is-the relationship between the lord and his followers.
Another outlook of Shiva pointing at his raised foot is that all the energy points in the body can be activated from the foot. . As Jan Phillips says in Divining the Body, “Our feet are sacred portals, thresholds over which great energy enters us from Mother Earth.” Our feet keeps us grounded to mother earth. All the energy from earth is transmitted into our body through our feet.
3. The energy of the left foot accesses places, events, and situations, as prospects. It decides where when and how are we to connect with the earth. In simple language the left foot decides and plans the future of our life. Whereas, the right foot is firm. We connect to places and events of our life through right foot. Hence, left foot is deciding the course of action, while right foot takes the action. These are the principles of acupressure. All energy points of the body are there in the feet. When the feet touches the ground, it absorbs the energy from the earth and transits it to the whole body. In Hindu culture it is the costume to touch the feet of our elders. The reason being, that since all the energy in in the feet, when we touch their feet their energy gets absorbed and transmitted through our hands into our energy body.
