A. The unmatched energy and ferocity of dance are apprehended by the exorbitant spread of his hair or Jatas. Ganga resides in his hair is the epitome of purity.Even so, Ganga is in the grips of his heavy curls and not let loose.
B. Ganga is the most sacred river according to the Hindu mythology. Born from Vishnu’s right toe, Ganga found her home in Brahma’s kamandal. It is said that Ganga was so ferocious that no other object had the strength to hold her.
C. Rishi Kapila was in deep meditation when he was disturbed by sons of King Sagar. In his anger, Kapila cursed him and his generations to come. They were cursed of never receiving salvation. Only Ganga, the purest of all, held the power to relieve them from the curse. Bhagirath undertook vigorous penance to get Ganga on earth. Ganga, was then with Brahma. Bhagirath requested Ganga to come down on earth. However, The Earth did not have the capacity to deal with her vigor. Her lively bounce had the power to break the earth into pieces.
D. Bhagirath then went to Kailash to persuade Shiva. Bhagirath prayed to Shiva-to show him the directions. The ever generous lord Shiva was kind enough to Offer himself and gather Ganga in his hair. Shiva accumulated Ganga in his huge tufts of tangled hair and locked her in them. He after that, tamed her vigor and force. Shiva subsequently, let's her flow smoothly down the Kailash mounts. He instructed Ganga to follow Bhagirath. Bhagirath then led her through the plains of Hardware to meet Yamuna and Saraswati at the Prayag. Bhagirath, further lead her through Varanasi to meet the Mahasagar, which is now called GangaSagar. Bhagirath then sacrificed the ashes of his ancestors to Ganga, and Ganga granted them salvation. Shiva was very happy with Bhagirath and to honour Bhagirath’s pivotal role in getting Ganga to the earth. Shiva blessed him by giving Ganga a new name Bhagirathi. Ganga, then pleaded Shiva to accept her as an adornment in his hair and never to part with him. Since them Ganga in her personified form resides within the coils of the lord Shiva’s locks.
E. During the eternal dance of tandava, it is seen that Shiva does not let Ganga flow down. He has her locked up within his loops of long hair. The vigor and bounce of his dance let his hair loose. They are moving in all directions unattended and untamed. Even so, Ganga was secured in them. This signifies that even if the desires and wishes are let loose; purity, dignity and hope can still be kept locked within them. This is the power of mindfulness and super consciousness.
