Navratri fourth day Kushmanda Mata Puja

Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped on the fourth day of Navratri puja. She is also one among the nine forms of incarnations of Goddess Durga. She is also known as ‘Adishakti’, ‘Adiswarup’, and ‘Ashtanhujadhari’ all across the globe. As the mythological story goes, it is believed that the whole universe came into existence when Goddess Kushmanda smiled and moved forward at the time when Lord Vishnu was beginning to create the universe. Her divine smile brought the entire universe into light which was otherwise loomed with darkness all around. On this day goddesses Kushmanda should be worshipped, after offering puja to the Kalash and Lord Ganesha. Thereafter Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma too should be revered. 

Goddess Kushmanda has a golden complexion with a bright and radiant face. She possesses eight hands. In the right four hands she holds the Kamandalu, Bow, Arrow and lotus and in the left four hands she holds the Rosary, a jar of nectar or Amrit, Gada and Chakra. She is even believed to provide energy to the sun as she controls the Suryaloka. Goddess Kushmanda blesses all her devotees who worship her with complete devotion with health, wealth, success, peace and prosperity. To seek her blessings, it is important to worship the goddess with calmness, purity and complete dedication.

सुरासम्पूर्णकलशं रुधिराप्लुतमेव च ।
दधाना हस्तपद्माभ्यां कूष्माण्डा शुभदास्तु मे॥

Surasampurnakalasham Rudhiraplutmeva Cha,
Dadhana Hastpadhyabhayam Kushmanda Shubhdastu Me.

Kushmanda Stuti:

या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ कूष्माण्डा रूपेण संस्थिता।
