Vastu Tips For Ayurvedic Diet In Everyday Lifestyle

Vastu Tips For Ayurvedic Diet In Everyday Lifestyle

1. Including Ayurveda foods in your everyday diet makes for a fit and healthy living. People these days, especially in western countries, are becoming extremely conscious of this considering the benefits of Ayurveda diet on their overall health. Here is discussed the different foods which are ideal for consumption according to the specific Dosha or the Ayurvedic body type. However, by Dosha we mean the unique blend of the three principles of the body and mind which every individual has his own. This blend creates a unique physical and mental characteristic for every individual. It is these three principles which are called Doshas. The three doshas are Kapha, Pitta and Vata. Each dosha can be aggravated or balanced with the help of their respective food types. We are here to learn as to which food should be taken and which should be avoided in order to relate to our respective Doshas and keep healthy.

2. Vata Balancing foods- To balance the Vata body type one should consume fruits such as watermelon, prunes, plums, pears, mangos, figs, berries, apples, raisins, pomegranates, pineapples, melons, grapes, dates and avocados. Any sweet fruit will have a balancing effect on a Vata body type. However, sour fruits should be avoided as they would aggravate this Dosha. Vegetables which should be consumed are zucchini, squash, parsnips, olives, green beans, beets, and artichokes to name just a few. However, Vatas should have cooked vegetables and should avoid raw ones at all times. Grains such as wild rice, wheat and oats are all beneficial to Vatas. As far as dairy products go, yogurt, cheese and milk from a goat, milk from a cow, buttermilk and cheese can also be consumed.

3. Pitta balancing foods- Many foods are similar to Pitta body types just like those of Vatas. Pitta’s should also avoid sour foods. As for grains, they can consume cooked oats, white rice, oat granola, millet, buckwheat, brown rice and wheat bran. Vegetables like mushrooms, potatoes, leafy greens, zucchini, artichokes, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and broccoli can be had. Both bitter and sweet vegetables are considered to be balancing for Pittas.

4. Kapha balancing foods- Kaphas should avoid dates, bananas and sweet fruits. There are many nuts and legumes that are known to be balancing for Kaphas, such as white beans, red lentils, navy beans, sunflower seeds, flaxseeds, black-eyes peas, split peas, pinto beans, lima beans, pumpkin beans, peanuts, coconut, cashews, Brazil nuts and almonds. Even eggs can be eaten in moderate quantity. The foods to avoid for Kapha’s are seafood, lamb, duck, pork, freshwater fish and beef. In dairy products, diluted yoghurt and goat’s milk are advisable. Using condiments, spices and herbs like Thyme, spearmint, rosemary, peppermint, paprika, onion, mustard seeds, horseradish, garlic, dill, cloves, cayenne, black pepper, basil, poppy seeds, parsley, oregano, mint and ginger can all be used to enhance the flavor of your various Ayurvedic meals.
